Our client is a leading Construction General Contractor specializing in multi-million dollar new and major construction and renovation projects across commercial, industrial, and multi-family sectors throughout the Midwest. With a proven track record of delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget, the company takes pride in its commitment to excellence, innovation, and client satisfaction. Due to growth and expansion, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Operations to join this successful team.
The Director of Operations will lead and oversee the operational aspects of our construction projects. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient execution of ground-up and renovation projects, optimizing and managing project teams, and maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and client satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have proven success with project sizes of over $50M up to $200M+ experience with a strong background in construction operations, strategy, project management, and leadership.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the executive team to develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the company’s overall goals and objectives.
- Project Oversight: Oversee the successful execution of ground-up and renovation projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Team Leadership: Provide effective leadership to project managers, site supervisors, and other operational staff, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
- Resource Management: Optimize resource allocation, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to maximize project efficiency and profitability.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and monitor quality control processes to ensure that construction projects meet or exceed industry standards and client expectations.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks and challenges throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring proactive problem-solving and timely decision-making.
- Client Relations: Foster strong relationships with clients through regular communication, addressing concerns, and ensuring overall client satisfaction.
- Safety Compliance: Champion a culture of safety and compliance with industry regulations, implementing and monitoring safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment.
- Performance Metrics: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve operational efficiency and project outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in construction operations, with a focus on commercial, industrial, and multi-family projects.
- Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering large-scale. $50M+ construction projects on time and within budget.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
- In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in project management software and tools.
